Crewing opportunities

First time crewing for members

Members are encouraged to try their hand at crewing. Simply meet the Keel Racing Captain at the club one hour before the race start time, be introduced to the Skippers and then be allocated to a yacht. Alternatively, contact the Keel Racing Captain for details. Crew members must wear soft soled shoes. No experience is necessary.

Regular crewing for members

For anyone wishing to pursue crewing on a regular basis, they must be Crew Members (fees and conditions apply) or alternatively be a full member of Hillarys Yacht Club. Crew membership incorporates MYA membership and the AYF (Australian Yachting Federation) Silver Card (both compulsory for all competing crew).

Casual crewing for non-members

Anyone wishing to participate in casual crewing (no more than twice in one season) on member's yachts and are not members of Hillarys Yacht Club should contact the club office in the first instance. Generally, there is no requirement to book - just arrive at the club approximately 1 hour prior to the race start time and make yourself known to the Keel racing division members. A briefing will be held prior to the race and casual crew will be allocated to a yacht.
