It was an early start for many Hillarys Yacht Club sailors as they headed to ANZAC dawn services before competing in the annual Diggers’ Cup race.
A light easterly breeze of 5 knots set the scene for a quiet, reflective sail however the competitive instinct soon took over to produce some close racing.
Mulberry (Mark Pitt) set fastest time in division one and was second on handicap to Sandrine (Ian Conboy) with Bruce Bradford on Salamander third.
In division two, Tony Brooke steered Tropical Itch to a first and fastest with Bruce Ellery making a comeback after renovations on Show Me, second and Helga (Mark Taylor) was third.
Rob Bills’ Catabatic revelled in the light conditions to be first and fastest in division three with Pandora (Chris Kelly) second and Steve Okeefe on Comfortably Numb third.
