With a silver tray as the trophy on offer there were some very keen crews eager to get their female skippers in a winning position in the annual Ladies Skippers race held off Hillarys on Sunday.
Whilst a couple of the ladies are the regular skippers, most are either crew, dinghy sailors or family members called upon once a year.
In division one, accomplished sailor, young Chelsea Bradford skippered Dad’s yacht Whispering Jack to win on handicap with line honours going to Caroline Weeks on Dad’s yacht Mulberry who was second. Third place went to visiting yacht Overloard skippered by Jodi James however the third Hillarys yacht was Sally Malay with Sarah Liddiard at the helm. Tony Waymouth who won last week with Sheer Magic in division two handed the helm to Leanne Moiti who repeated the feat. Lana Calkins skippered Panache for second place and Gail Riley was third on Xtreme. Elissa Graham kept Covert Operation’s reputation in tact as a regular line honours winner.
