Pot of Gold and Dash for Cash

Last Saturday Hillarys Yacht Club hosted a major offshore race, the Pot of Gold that started off Fremantle and after five hours of racing finished at Hillarys. Seventeen yachts from river and ocean yacht clubs including Mark Pitt’s Mulberry from Hillarys participated in the annual event that commenced in 1994.

A slightly shorter race, the Dash for Cash, was sailed simultaneously in waters between Hillarys and Scarborough for the local Hillarys yachts.

In the Dash, Ian Walker’s Sally Malay just pipped Deckchairs Overboard (Neil and Wendy Harrison) for line and handicap honours, with Hard Evidence (Des and Gail Riley, Marshall Fox) third in division one.

In division two Covert Operation (Bart Brouwer and Graham Atkinson) was first and fastest with Blue Chip (Keith and Deborah Fisk) second and Not Negotiable (Greg Hill) third.

In division three, Tim and Katie Tucker on Show Me won ahead of Steve Okeefe on Comfortably Numb.

In the Pot of Gold, the winners on IRC were Geoff Bishop from Fremantle Sailing Club on Checkmate in division one and Simon Torvaldson from Royal Perth Yacht Club on Atomic Blonde in division two.
